Fired Up!

The weather just turned HOT! If you’re trying to conceive or have other important goals burning inside, this hot weather may put you into heated overdrive. In Ayurveda, we call this excess Pitta. You know it’s Pitta when you have some of the following traits:

  • Irritability, anger, or impatience

  • Inflammation in body or skin

  • Acne

  • Headaches or Migraines

  • Excess thirst

  • Loose stools

  • Feeling overheated in body

  • Sharp hunger (MUST HAVE FOOD NOW and hearty appetite)

  • Heartburn or acid reflux

  • Vivid dreaming

  • Wake up between 2-5:30am (before ready to wake up)

  • Finds hot weather unbearable

  • Demanding, critical behavior

  • Overdrive mind

  • Skin rashes

Balancing Pitta will bring more comfort to your body and mind, which means less stress on your physiology and better results for everything you do, whether conceiving your child, improving your health concerns, completing your goals, or just day to day living. Pitta is an essential part of our nature, it’s fire helps us to focus, be more efficient, and get things done. If we maintain balance in our Pitta, we embody these lovely traits of this firey element within us:

  • Warm, loving, contented

  • Strong digestion (without overdoing it)

  • Efficiency in everything we do

  • Enjoys meeting challenges (rather than ambushing them with all our might)

  • Generous nature

  • Sharp intellect

  • Articulate and precise speech

  • Healthy glow to the skin

  • Peace of mind

  • Sleeps through the early morning hours of the night

Here are some tips for maintaining your own Pitta balance, even while the outside heat stokes your internal fire.
